Canadian Travel Style

Styling travel looks from homegrown designers makes what we're wearing even more special! Here are a few looks from our Shepherd's customers travelling the globe in some of our Canadian designs...

Margo's Month Away In Australia

Margo's Month Away in Australia

Margo calls her recent 35 day circumnavigation cruise to Australia, her "Shepherd's At Sea" voyage.  Her wardrobe consisted of 95% Shepherd's looks that she's purchased over the last few years.  "As there were no formal evenings on the Oceania, only resort casual, my packably perfect pieces from Sympli got a lot of mix and match wear in the evenings."

Margo's Style Tip"I must say that the Spanner bike short was a godsend under my dresses on hot days, a real workhorse on this cruise.  I also love my trapeze dress."

Margo accented her outfits with Canadian designed accessories, most notably, light and delightful printed scarves from Love's Pure Light, and freshwater pearls from Wanted.

Judith's "Aha" Moment in Antarctica

Judith's "Aha" Moment in Antarctica

When Judith sailed off to Antarctica, she was not prepared for the majestic beauty and size of the glaciers and surrounding panorama she witnessed.

"I wanted to send in a picture of my Sympli vest, and I took a selfie to capture the moment.  The glacier was the size of a large building, I was amazed. It's a trip I'll remember forever."

Airy Breezy Easy Peasy Eh!

Airy Breezy Easy Peasy Eh!

Looking cool in on a summer's day of play in Spain, France or during a tropical getaway hinges on easy, breezy clothing options. Some will only travel with natural fibers like linens and cottons, others prefer the wrinkle-free look of synthetic fabrics. Packing light is all about being organized in a way that ensures that every day and every evening we're away has the style impact we want to express!

Left: Gail's gone to Gilmour for its bamboo fabrications that offer soft shaping and ease of wear. She's wearing our reversible tank and cropped wide leg gaucho in white.

Center: Sharon at the beach in a timeless and effortless caftan from Shannon Passero. It's got maxi style impact, but truth is, it's the simplest piece to put on and go. High side slit detail and vertical lined print make you the fashionista taking a stroll in the sun.

Right: Anita's Family Vacation...time away with loved ones is a perfect time to bond. You're discovering new cultures, geography and history together which will make for memories you can share forever! Anita was treated to a trip to Paris by her son Bruno, who first brought her in to Shepherd's to purchase a full travel wardrobe. One of the many standout looks was this caftan from Rapz. We love the drama of the ever trending animal print, and the ease of the slip on chiffon caftan style. It's perfect to dress up a solid toned base, whether it's denim, bamboo or Sympli jersey.

Want to know our two top travel style tips for smooth sailing?

  1. With the limited space of a suitcase, or even of just a carry on, you'll pack less if you pick a base colour that allows you to interchange almost every piece you bring. Think of it as creating a mini wardrobe with pieces on rotation.
  2. You should also start from the bottom up, which is to say start with your shoes. We've all had the misfortune of putting together super outfits...and then ask ourselves the question, "what footwear will I wear with this?" Remember that happy feet make for a pleasurable excursion day or an evening to dance the night away.

Left: Best In Black. Black hits home base for many of us when travelling.  It's seen as chic, easy to coordinate and forgiving for the silhouette.  Shelly's elegant Nu Ideal tunic and cropped pant from Sympli looks effortlessly put together. Her jersey fabric Necknot is a metal free alternative to a necklace and perfectly completes the look.

Right: Light and Bright. It's nice to see designers branch out into softer neutrals this season. Light cream, ivory, soft grey, and pastels are trending head to toe, as illustrated in this look. Barbara also looked to Sympli separates to pair together on her 3 week European cruise.

“Thanks to Shepherds I travelled in comfortable, stylish and easy to wear clothing. It mixes and matches beautifully and is totally fuss free. I have been a customer for several years now and think of you all as family. I love your shows, ease of purchase, and great service. Thanks for keeping me looking and feeling good”.

Thank you to all of our customers who send in pictures of their Shepherd's looks!  We're so happy to post them on our weekly Sunday Customer Style Inspo post on Facebook! Here's to many stylish adventures to come, wherever your destination!
